Dental Milling - General Air Compressor Selection Guidelines

To operate (1) each Milling Machine, you will normally need either a 2 hp, 4 hp, 5 hp or 6 hp DRY AIR compressor depending on cfm and hourly run times.* Note: If milling run time is less than 90 minutes & <1.5 cfm, then a 1 hp model may be ok to use.

1 hp compressor models: milling machine req. 0.3-1 cfm continuous (9-25 liters per minute, l/min) @90 PSI

2 hp compressor models: milling machine req. 0.5-2 cfm continuous (10-55 l/min) @90 PSI

4 hp compressor models: milling machine req. 2-4 cfm continuous (56-110 l/min) @90 PSI

5 hp & 6 hp compressor models: milling machine req. 4-7 cfm continuous (112-180 l/min) @90 PSI

* .3MPa = 45psi, .5MPa = 72psi, .7MPa = 101psi
